Reuben Cottingham

Chief Philanthropy Officer

Reuben Cottingham is an entrepreneur with an extensive background in mentoring the youth in Multnomah County. His professional background consists of mentoring youth, behavioral consulting, music production, song writing, multi-instrumentation, composing, videography, and more. He uses his passions and heart for the community to give back and to fill gaps that he sees. Born in Cincinnati, OH, growing up in rougher environments formed his understanding of what poverty really was. Experiencing the lack of male role models, healthy examples, and dreams fully realized, he learned to cling to his faith. This inspired him to be a forerunner even in his adolescence. Growing up with siblings of the LGBTQ+ community, showed him the unfortunate state of the world we live in. Seeing his siblings ridiculed, disowned, and judged, grew his fuel to fight their freedom in many different aspects. The pacific northwest became home for Reuben in the early 2000's. Here he would complete the majority of his schooling and grow deep rooted relationships with many influential leaders. His highschool experience consisted of finding his highschool sweetheart, who he's married to today, but also starting his career with non-profits. Using his skills and personal experience, he grew more passionate about the black community, and now finds himself working for the prestigious organization of Brown Hope as the Director of Development and Communications..
